Veragua Rainforest is located about 3 hours from San Jose in the Limon province. Roads are not in bad shape but are very dangerous so a good 4×4 trustworthy vehicle is highly recommended.

If you are more of a terrestrial person, there are twice as many activities to do on land! From waterfalls and trails, to reptile habitats, butterfly gardens and even an insectarium! Our best pick is a combination of all the previously mentioned!

Take a hike through one of the several trails available at Veragua Rainforest. Here you will be able to admire all the area’s animals such as the frogs, butterflies, toucans and monkeys. After a long lovely walk, you will get to the Puma waterfall. A 65-foot high waterfall the cascades into two large pools- perfect to take a dip and refresh yourself after a long journey!

The Veragua Rainforest park in open Tuesday to Saturday from 8a.m. to 3p.m. If you are looking for a full tour, these range from $100-$150 (lunch and transportation included).
