GPS, also known as ‘global positioning system,’ pinpoints your current position and a variety of other locations on your journey from satellites circling the earth.

When you order your car for rent in Costa Rica, we can fit your GPS. This means that as soon as you leave our car park, the voice from the software will tell you every turn to make, to the end of your journey, by simply telling it where you want to go, one safe step at a time. You can tell the software to avoid specific kinds of roads depending upon whether you want the quickest route to the end location or a pleasant meandering journey.
How Does GPS Work?
There are more than 20 satellites circling the world and their information is linked to a global GPS system. For those interested in technicalities, the satellites are located over 10,000+ miles above the Earth’s surface.
Receivers are placed around the world and the information is passed between receiver and satellite so that your GPS can know immediately where you are and present a road system in front of you for where you are going to. They can quickly recalculate if you change your mind and chose to go elsewhere.
The measurements for your journey are exact so that you always know how long it is going to take you to complete your journey, except for changes in the traffic and the weather.
You can rent a GPS system from us when you consider your car for rent or you may choose to bring your own system on your mobile phone. We should mention, however, that our systems are located carefully in the car so you are not distracted while you are driving and unlike a mobile phone, you do not have to look away from the road to find out information about your journey.
