In Places to Visit

We know for a fact you have heard of the famous Corcovado National Park. It’s incredible flora and amazingly diverse fauna. But you haven’t really explored this gorgeous National Park until you visit Dos Brazos de Rio Tigre!

Located in the Osa Peninsula, this area is one of the most biologically intense places on earth according to National Geographic magazine. Although Dos Brazos is not located within the actual Corcovado Park, it is located just right outside the eastern side of it. Getting here is fairly easy, roads are paved so a 4×4 vehicle is not necessary, you may take any normal compact vehicle.

Dos Brazos de Rio Tigre used to be known as gold-mining town back in the 1970’s and 80’s. Although gold mining continues to be a usual activity, this small town is now mainly focused on tourism.

Once here, there are a couple main activities you can choose from:

The most common tour is the one-day hike through Corcovado National Park. The hike takes about 7-8 hours depending on how many trails you wish to visit. Do take into account that the trails are moderately difficult as it may involve some steep climbing. Nevertheless, we promise its all worth it! – you will be dazzled by the park’s diverse flora and fauna with over 375 species of birds, 124 mammals, and more than 8,000 insects.

The Gold Mining tour is still an activity you can take part of – and yes, you can actually go and find some gold! The tour will require you to hike for about 3-4 hours and you might get wet as you need to walk through some rivers. The tour guides will explain everything regarding the gold mining operation (past and present) and will even teach you the technique to look for gold!

Dos Brazos de Rio Tigre is the perfect spot for Bird watching as it has so many diverse habitats. It is said that there you can see over 100 species of birds in one single day.

There are also other activities such a night walks, horseback riding, or even visiting a waterfall which you can do. Dos Brazos is the epitome of a nature lover’s paradise!
